The lighthouse is located almost at the very end of the Hel Peninsula. According to written sources, it exists since 1638. On July 1, 1928, it was visited by Józef Piłsudski, which is commemorated by a plaque embedded in its wall by the "Hel Friends" association. Near the lighthouse there is a small obelisk made of a stone step with the inscription "Memory of the lighthouse keeper 1905", dedicated to the lighthouse keeper May who died while operating a cannon to warn sailors of fog. After this accident, a siren was installed at the Hel lighthouse, acting as a warning signal. Currently, the lighthouse has the form of an octagonal tower made of red brick with a height of 41.5 m. Its height is 41.5 m.
