An early medieval fortified settlement within the city of Sopot, surrounded by a rampart and a moat, covered with beech forest. It functions as an archaeological museum which is a branch of the Archaeological Museum in Gdańsk. The open-air museum presents permanent elements of the reconstruction of the settlement: a gate, a fragment of the embankment, huts, half-docks and animal pens. Visitors can learn about the results of research conducted here by the Archaeological Museum in Gdańsk, thanks to which we can say a lot today about the history of the Sopot stronghold, living conditions and daily activities of the population living there, ancient crafts, armaments and the methods of erecting fortifications and houses at that time. Due to the location of this object in the city center - a health resort, the hillfort is not only an interesting place for recreation but above all a great place to popularize the history and cultural monuments of early medieval Pomeranian. It is here that presentations of crafts, sword and ax knight fights, archery are held. An additional attraction is the annual Archaeological and Historical Festivals, which include a series of cultural events taking into account their historical and educational nature.
