The first bridge with a length of 31.5 m was built by Dr. Jerzy Haffner in 1827. By the end of the nineteenth century, the pier was extended to 150 m, to reach 315 m in 1910. Initially, the facility served as a local marina, gradually transforming (as the spa developed) into a recreational facility, and then - after expanding the land infrastructure (fountain, shell concert) - also in a party venue. It is worth adding at this point that admission to the facility was paid as early as the second half of the 19th century. The present shape of the building was given in 1928 after the largest reconstruction in the history of the Pier initiated a year earlier to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the city and the 100th anniversary of the Pier (e.g. significant extension of the walking platform and development of the Spa Square). Since then, the appearance of the Pier has changed slightly, despite major renovations carried out several times. The last significant work took place in 1989-91 (a reinforced concrete head protecting the main platform was built then) and in 1999-2000.2002-03 and 2004-05.
