The Oliwa Park, designed in a French style, captivates with its beautiful nature. You can see here rare, valuable species of trees and plants such as: tulip tree (during flowering the flowers of this tree look like real tulips), California fir, Douglas fir, Chinese juniper, silver birch, rhododendron, azalea, ginkgo biloba, edible chestnut, hops and Swedish rowan. Among the rich vegetation we will meet large flocks of wild ducks, swans, and ubiquitous squirrels. In addition to wonderful nature, the Oliwa garden guarantees other attractions. Among others, the Abbots' Palace, which is a valuable monument of the 18th century, and artistic works representing mainly the Exhibition of Contemporary Gdańsk Sculpture. Walking around the park's alleys, you should look at many of the sculptures gathered. In 1955, a bust of Adam Mickiewicz was placed in the garden. The entire park complex was also named after the poet. It is worth mentioning the so-called whisper caves (or "Dionysus Ears"), which as a remnant of baroque garden equipment from the 18th century are characterized by unusual acoustics, thanks to which people in two opposite caves can talk in whispers.
