The Gdańsk Science Center is housed in historic military architecture buildings in the center of Gdańsk. It aims to promote science in physics, astronomy, biology and history by organizing modern multimedia and interactive exhibitions. The offer of the scientific center includes outdoor and temporary exhibitions, educational classes for all ages. The facility also organizes numerous special events, scientific shows and lectures. The idea of ​​creating the Hewelianum was born in 1997, and its implementation became possible thanks to the funds obtained by the Municipality of Gdańsk from the European Regional Development Fund under the Integrated Regional Operational Program. The patron of the institution is Jan Heweliusz - one of the greatest scientists in the field of astronomy of the 17th century, the most famous citizen of the city of Gdańsk.
